So my computer hard drive is basically broken. Yay...and since I was an idiot and forgot to backup my files I practically lost everything. There is a possibility that I may be able to get my files off of it, but I will probably have to wait till I go back home sometime (oh you didn't know I was coming back for my brother's wedding? whoops...well now you do!)
Things Lost Include:
- All documents that where not shared with anyone on dropbox, or sent to anyone to read.
- This in itself includes:
- Many essays from school (not so concerned about since I have print copies of the ones I want)
- Many stories, started, finished, midway etc. that I don't have printed...
- Many random poems also not printed or sent to anyone...
- My resume....
- All music not bought on ITunes
- The majority of it
- All photographs
- Minus the ones that are on my blog
- So a lot...
- Dignity
- Being an idiot and not backing up things and then losing everything because of it is not a dignity booster
- Creativity
- Well, okay, I can still be creative and write new things but still....you have no idea how many half written things I have...that's a lot of hard work down the drain....
- Wisdom
- I will never again fail to backup my files...all of them...
- Knowledge
- It's super stupid to not backup things...
- In the end it's all just "stuff" that I don't necessarily need. I have lost nothing that I can't get back at some point or that I can't live without
- Sadness
- Despite the above statement that seems to imply that I have moved on...I still lost everything and that is just so much lamesauce I don't even want to contemplate it...
So now I need to figure out if I'm just gonna go ahead and get a new hard drive, a new laptop, or a tablet of some sort....but I think I'm just gonna live without till I get back from Northern Ireland, where I go for 5 days next week! yay...a ray of sunshine in this sad time....
Let us now have a moment of silence for the dear departed hard drive.

Booo! I think there are sneaky ways of getting all your stuff, but in the meantime... boooo!!! I will back up my stuff; I promise!!
ReplyDeleteDad and I will give you a hand with getting your files back if it is possible. Not sure how easy it is to remove your hard drive, but if you can get it out then you could mail it home. Should be small and light enough to go as a regular letter (padded envelope).
