Under Halcyon Skies

I woke this morning to greyish skies. Not necessarily a pleasant prospect for a day off, but there you are. Fortunately, by the time I was done breakfast and starting to get ready for my shower the skies had cleared and were showing a brilliant blue. And so, without much ado, I strolled out into the sunshine with a bottle of juice and a pack each of Minstrels and Skittles.

Everything's sooo green!

Little "caterpillars" or what we used to pretend were caterpillars when we were kids

Gorse in bloom once more. In case you didn't know, it smells like coconut which is both weird and pretty awesome

Tree buds!

More tree buds!

Even the puddles love spring

Heron

Some sort of water fowl. About the size of a duck, but the bill is very much like a goose

Snowdrops still lingering

All the snowdrops!

Reflections

The beauty of birch trees. In Germany, on the night of April 30 the young men are allowed to chop down a small birke tree and decorate it with ribbons and hearts and leave it on the doorstep of the house were the girl he likes or is dating lives. Which I think is adorable.

Even the hedgerows are starting to grow new leaves

Some early crocuses
